What is NetSuite integration?
NetSuite integration connects NetSuite ERP with the other applications a business runs on so that data flows between them automatically. Instead of exporting spreadsheets or re-keying orders, an integration keeps records — customers, items, orders, inventory, fulfillments, invoices, and payments — consistent across every system in near real time.
The goal is a single source of truth. When a storefront takes an order, it should appear in NetSuite as a sales order; when a 3PL ships it, the fulfillment and tracking should flow back; when inventory changes, every sales channel should see the new quantity. Integration is what makes that happen without human intervention.
Why integrate NetSuite at all?
Manual data entry between systems is slow, error-prone, and does not scale. As order volume grows, the cost of re-keying — and the cost of the mistakes it introduces (oversells, mis-ships, reconciliation errors) — grows with it.

The four approaches to NetSuite integration
Most NetSuite integrations fall into one of four models. They differ mainly in where the integration logic runs, who maintains it, and how you pay for it.

- iPaaS (integration platform as a service) — a third-party cloud (e.g. Celigo, Boomi) sits between your systems and moves data through flows you configure.
- Point-to-point connector — a purpose-built connector links NetSuite to one specific platform, often self-service.
- Custom development — bespoke SuiteScript, RESTlets, or middleware built for a specific, non-standard requirement.
How real-time sync works
Integrations move data either on a schedule (batch) or the moment something changes (real-time / event-driven). Batch is simpler but introduces lag and stale data between runs; real-time keeps systems continuously consistent but requires event-driven architecture.

How to choose the right approach
Price is the easiest factor to compare and the easiest to get wrong. The real question is total cost of ownership and fit: who hosts and maintains the integration, whether your data has to leave NetSuite, how quickly data needs to move, and how much custom logic your workflows require.
As a rule of thumb: if NetSuite is the center of your operations and you want the fewest moving parts, a native SuiteApp keeps everything inside NetSuite. If you need to orchestrate many systems where NetSuite is just one of several hubs, an iPaaS may be a better fit.
